Boxers of 12 Gemunu Watch (GW) won the Inter Battalion Boxing Championship - 2014 of the Security Force Headquarters-Central (SFHQ-C), organized by the 14 Gajaba Regiment (GR), under the supervision of the General Officer Commanding, 12 Division, held at the Pradeshiya Saba Auditorium, Kataragama from Monday to Wednesday (12-14).
On the directions of Major General Mano Perera, Commander, SFHQ-C and the President, Sri Lanka Army Boxing Association, a total of 34 boxers from Battalions, Brigades and Division under the SFHQ-C fought for supremacy under 10 25 bouts.
Lance Corporal H.G.S Sanjika from 12 GW clinched the ‘Best Boxer’ title and the ‘Best Loser’ title was won by Private S.K Jayantha of the 14 GR.
12 GR boxers won the overall Championship with 30 marks. 14 GR with 15 marks became the runners-up and the third place went to 1 Sri Lanka Rifle Corps (SLRC) with 6 marks.
Major General Perera as the Chief Guest graced the grand finale and distributed the trophies to the winners.
Many senior officers, officers and other ranks of the SFHQ-C and sports-loving general public attended that evening.
