Giving prominence to religious ceremonies, the 11 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-C) proudly marked its 5th anniversary with an all rank lunch, military salutes, tree planting and other arrangements during February 12-15.
The anniversary programmes, organized on the directions of Major General D.N.S.K Senadheera, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 11 Division, commenced with planting of herbal saplings at the Pallekele Ayurvedic Hospital premises on Thursday (12), followed by religious programmes at Vishnu, Naatha, Patthini and Kataragama Devala shrines before a special Gilanpasa Pooja was conducted at the Sri Dalada Maligawa temple on Saturday (14).
The climax of the military formalities took place with a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour, presented to the GOC at the 11 Division Headquarters in Pallekele on Sunday (15).
The GOC, senior officers, officers on the same afternoon sat together with other ranks for a luncheon get-together as one more project of the anniversary celebrations. On the same evening (15), an all-night Pirith chanting ceremony, got underway in the premises in order to invoke blessings on the anniversary. A Heel Daana on Monday (16) culminated the proceedings.
