The finals of the Inter Battalion Football Championship of the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) were held at 5 Sri Lanka Army Ordinance Corps (SLAOC) playground in Jaffna on Thursday (8).
The tournament was initiated on a concept of the Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna (SF-J) to improve sportsmanship of Officers/other rankers and further promote goodwill and mutual understanding among them.
522 Brigade troops under the guidance of the 52 Division Headquarters organized the tournament. 10 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) and 16 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) teams qualified for the finals, out of 24 competing teams.10 VIR team finally beat 16 (V) VIR footballers for 2-0 to secure the Championship.
Major General Dharshana Hettiarrachchi, Commander, SF-J graced the finals as the Chief Guest and awarded trophies and certificates to the winners and their teams.
General Officers Commanding, Brigade Commanders, Senior Officers and a large number of Army Personnel were present to witness the finals.
