Troops of the 1 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) of the 52 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) arranged an educational tour for students and teachers of Madihe Pannaseeha Vidyalaya, Putthur in Jaffna to the Palaly airport on Wednesday (28).
Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi, Commander, Security Forces – Jaffna (SF-J) facilitated the project with the approval of the Commander of the Air Force and the support extended by the Commanding Officer at the Palaly Air Force Base. Officers and Other Ranks of the 1 VIR troops organized the tour thru the coordination of Lieutenant Colonel Dammika Jayaratne, Commanding Officer, 1 VIR.
During the visit, students were able to watch the AN 32 aircraft and saw its inside for better understanding of the function of the aircraft. Officers and staff of the Palaly Airbase extended their fullest support to the visit. Pupils and teachers were very happy over the arrangement. 1st Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment provided transport and snacks for the students and teachers.
