A special media briefing on the forthcoming ‘Rana Viru Real Star - Mission II’ (reality musical show for tri-service personnel) took place Thursday (20) evening at Ceylon Inter-Continental Hotel.
The unveiling of the ‘Rana Viru Real Star-Mission II’ Trophy, expected to be awarded to the final winner occurred at the same occasion with the participation of the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral D.W.A.S.Dissanayake, Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Mr Lakshman Hulugalle, Director General Media Centre for National Security, Mr Mohan Samaranayaka, Chairman, Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation and Mr Nushad Perera, Executive Officer, Dialog, the main sponsor.
The show to be telecast shortly saw its birth on a concept, mooted by Secretary Defence Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa who held the view that hundreds of battle-fatigued servicemen who sweated day and night deserve a full-fledged rest, recreation and entertainment after absence of so many years.
Thousands of service personnel have already opted to compete in the first rounds of audition.
