'May All Beings be Well &;amp; Happy !' – Sri Lanka Army

Sri Sambuddhatva Jayanthi commemorative Vesak ceremony that marks the 2600th Anniversary of the Enlightenment of the Buddha is today (May 17, 2011).

On this historic day, the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, all the principal staff officers, officers and all ranks join millions of Buddhists in Sri Lanka and across the world in wishing them a very peaceful Vesak, replete with tolerance, loving kindness, equanimity, equality and generosity.

Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya in a special message, issued in connection with the occasion, pays tribute to all War Heroes who had made the supreme sacrifice and contributed to the culmination of terrorism, enabling all of us to commemorate this full moon day without any hassle.

We all as Buddhists should bear in mind the need to follow great tenets of Buddhism such as compassion, loving kindness, equanimity, universal love, etc away from negativities like Lobha, Dwesha and Moha. Such virtues will lead to a righteous way of life as everybody in the Army joins hands together to commemorate this landmark event while offering their maximum support, the Commander further noted.

Let blessings of Triple Gem be with all of you ! May all beings be Well and Happy !
