'Kanyavi' Sings Through the Years and Keeps Audience Spell-bound

Those who made it to the BMICH on Friday (2) evening were treated to a perfect treat of unique and engaging classical music as Kalashuri Amarasiri Peiris ‘Kanyavi’ went on the boards to a packed audience of music-lovers.

The musical evening, organized by 1 Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps on behalf of Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps Seva Vanitha Unit featured a rare contribution of variety of classical and Ragadhari music, made extremely popular by the likes of Amarasiri Peiris.

The packed audience proved to be a huge success as several prominent personalities including Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya and his spouse, Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, President Seva Vanitha Army Branch graced the occasion to see the musical talents of the singer.

The proceeds from ‘Kanyavi’ are in aid of family members of Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps Regiment who made the supreme sacrifice or went missing during operational and non - operational circumstances and give prominence to educational aspect of those War Heroes’ sons and daughters.

Major General S.H. Munasinghe, Colonel of the Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps Regiment and Colonel Mrs D.T.N. Munasinghe, Chairperson, Sri Lanka Medical Corps Seva Vanitha welcomed Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya and Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya on arrival.

The smooth running of every detail of the show was witness to the contribution made by Susil Amarasinghe, the veteran musician and Wasantha Rohana, the compére who made an unprecedented addition to the enchanting musical performance.
