'Alka Yagnik' Live In Concert Reverberates in Colombo with Packed Audience


Alka Yagnik’ Live in Concert, the mega musical extravaganza, organized by the Mercury Club of Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC), went on the boards Sunday (26) evening to a sea of fans at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium.

Secretary to President Mr Lalith Weerathunga and Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Secretary to Ministry of Defence and Urban Development, together with their spouses as well as the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, graced the entertainment programme as distinguished guests.
 
Making new strides, Alka Yagnik, now a popular name in every household in India as well as in the region, mainly due to her mind-bending and soothing voice which elevates rhythmic beats to dazzling heights in the industry, drew a record crowd of nearly 20,000 spectators in Colombo.

Alka Yagnik as a Bollywood songstress has won 7 Film Fare Awards during her record 12 years of singing in the film industry in Bollywood.

Sunday’s (24) Colombo show reverberated with 24 of her popular hits with performing artistes.

The mammoth event was organized under the patronage of Major General Prasad Samarasinghe, Colonel Commandant of the SLSC and the Chairperson of the SLSC Mercury Club, with a view to raising funds for the welfare of valiant SLSC war heroes and the event was proved a resounding success. 

Secretary Defence towards the end of the programme felicitated her by presenting a memento to Ms. Alka Yagnik amidst thundering applause of the crowd.
