Most renowned and popular Indian vocalist, Asha Bhosle whose musical flair for Sinhalese hits are fondly cherished in Sri Lanka, is once again set to transcend borders and share her vision of music along with the duo, Bhathiya and Santhush.
The Indian pop icon, Asha Bhosle with her catchy songs and Sinhala lyrics joined by Sri Lankan singing stars is scheduled to kick off the second phase of the mega musical show, ‘Tharu Dilena Reyak - 2’ at Sugathadasa Stadium, Colombo on 12 August 2011, aimed at raising funds for the ‘Brave Hearts’ project of the Seva Vanitha Army Branch which just successfully completed the ‘Abimansala’ (wellness resort) construction project at Anuradhapura for the benefit of dependent disable War Heroes of the Army.
The state of the art, ‘Abimansala’, the rest and recreation center at Anuradhapura for dependent War Heroes, in the company of their own spouses and children, was the brainchild of the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya which is to be shortly opened by HE, the President Mahinda Rajapaksa, in the company of Secretary Defence Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa, an ardent supporter of the ‘Abimansala’ project since its inaugural phase. A total of 52 dependent War Heroes can be accommodated at this center at a time.
The Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB), presided by Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, President, SVAB under its ‘Brave Hearts’ flagship, threw its full weight behind the successful completion of this pilot project, launching a multitude of different fund-raising campaigns since the entire cost for the construction plus all equipment was originally estimated at Rs 200 million.
However, as a result of untiring efforts and commitment of the soldiers of the Sri Lanka Engineer Service and various other donors and philanthropists both local and overseas, the theme project, ‘Brave Hearts’ managed to cut down the original cost by nearly Rs 23 million as per latest estimates.
On the directions of the Commander of the Army, Sri Lanka Army, actively aided by the SVAB, expects to set up several similar wellness resorts at provincial levels in the future in order to accommodate more and more dependent War Heroes in such centers while they remain confined to their own homes at respective districts, but without any access to such vital requirements.
The Anuradhapura ‘Abimansala’, equipped with all modern accessories, including a hydrotherapy unit, a physiotherapy unit, a swimming pool, a special medical unit, recreation and sports units, a library, etc, is to be serviced with a round the clock medical and nursing staff, in addition to its administrative and minor staff of the Army.
A special press briefing on the forthcoming fund-raising musical show and the forthcoming opening of the Anuradhapura ‘Abimansala’, wellness resort, will take place at the Army Headquarters on 28 June 2011at 1600 hrs. (Ends)
