  • 90% Musali Divisional Secretariat Division Resettlement Completed

    THE GOVERNMENT has allocated Rs. 800 million for the development of Musali Divisional Secretariat Division on the directive of President Mahinda Rajapaksa and 90 percent of resettlement process in the division was completed by the Government, said Presidential Senior Advisor and Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Northern Development Basil Rajapaksa. He was speaking at a ceremony to inaugurate the resettlement of over 2,120 people of 551 families in their original homes in the Musali DS division in Mannar yesterday (9) under the resettlement of displaced civilians phase II.

  • Commander Inspects 'Deyata Kirula' Army Site Preparations in Ampara

    Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Army on Sunday (24) arrived in Ampara with the intention of evaluating how Army arrangements are in progress in connection with the forthcoming ‘Deyata Kirula-2013’ mega exhibition in March. Sri Lanka Army, as is the practice in previous years, is to put up more than 35 exhibition stalls in the 18-acre land extent, allotted solely to the Army by the organizers of the mega exhibition.

    WANNI: TROOPS extending their search and clear operations further in OLUMADU, PUTHUKKUDIYIRUPPU, KIRUDAWELI and UDAYARKATTUKULAM areas on Monday (27) recovered two 81 mm mortars, four T-56 weapons, twenty-eight T-56 magazines, T-56 weapon accessories, one hundred and seventy rounds of 12.7 mm ammunition, eight Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPG), thirty-four hand grenades, two claymore mines, seven hundred rounds of Multi Purpose Machine Gun (MPMG) ammunition, one M-16 magazine, one charger, thirty-two 60 mm mortar bombs, thirty-two 60 mm mortar fuses and two I-com sets.

  • Ratgama Based Troops Hold 'Dansela'

    Troops serving 533 Brigade Headquarters in Ratgama, Galle organized a commemorative Pinkama plus a Vesak Dansela on account of Vesak festival on Full Moon Day (24). Members of the Maha Sangha invited to the inauguration of the Dansela on Vesak day morning invoked merits and blessings on War Heroes both alive and dead.
