  • Army Makes History Winning National Silhouette Shooting Championship for the First Time

     
    Sri Lanka Army Small Arms Committee Team, competed in the four-day long National Metallic Silhouette Shooting Championship tournament, held at the firing range, belonging to Negombo Rifle Association early this week, emerged the winners and carried the overall Championship trophy.     The Army Inter-Regiment Swimming and Water Polo Championship-2011 that annually grooms  swimmers of high standards  to the country's national pool had its final closing ceremony Thursday (1) evening at Panagoda Army Cantonment where the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya as the Chief Guest became an onlooker to the final feats of the event. A total of 319 swimmers, including 27 woman swimmers representing almost all the regiments in the Army vied with one another for supremacy during the three-day (Nov 29,30 & Dec 1) long tournament, organized by the Army Swimming and Water Polo Committee.....
