60 visually-handicapped persons in Weeravila, Hambantota area, including the popular songstress, Ms Imasha Muthukumari received facilitation and sponsorship of the Army for them to go on a pilgrimage to Kataragama during September 24 - 26.
Sri Lanka Army troops in the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) are currently engaged in supplying drinking water to drought-affected people in Welikanda, Dimbulagala, Lankapura, Thamankaduwa, Medirigiriya and Hingurakgoda areas using their own water bowsers.
On the directions of the Ministry of Defence and the Army Headquarters, Army troops began a Dengue eradication programme with the cooperation of the National Dengue Eradication Unit in vulnerable areas in the Central and Southern Provinces during September 27 – October 03.
