THE SEVA VANITHA Army Branch (SVAB), closely monitoring child development process among War Hero children among Army families took a special initiative to conduct a special teacher training workshop for all teachers in SVAB managed island-wide pre-schools.

The residential workshop continued for four days beginning December 15th at Manning Town Virudaru pre-school auditorium. The Open University of Sri Lanka coordinated the workshop and provided lecture assistance to the sessions. Special lectures delivered during the workshop covered subjects such as pre-child development, role of pre-school teachers, improvement of children’s aesthetic values, children’s health and nutrition and quality of teaching instructions. Most of these subject contents are to be included in the pre-school curriculum in the future.

All the teachers from Manning Town Virudaru Pre-school, Panagoda Ranketi Pre-school, Kandy Virukekulu Pre-school, Diyathalawa Virudaru Pre-school, Anurdhapura Rankekulu Pre-school, Kosgama Virukekulu pre-school and Galle Rantharu pre-school attended the workshop and received training. Senior SVAB members, directed by Mrs. Manjulika Jayasuriya gave their support to the project.
