A HELPING hand to provide welfare to War Heroes was extended by Sri Lanka United National Association (SLUNA) in Canada in recognition of Sri Lankan Army soldiers’ dedication towards a terrorism-free country.

SLUNA based in Canada on Monday (20) handed over Canadian Dollars 1400 (about Rs 156,000) to the Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB) at its office in Army Headquarters to be used for a worthy cause.

Mrs. Menaka Kurunanayaka, an active member of SLUNA handed over the donation to the new President SVAB Mrs. Manjulika Jayasuriya. The money is to be directly used for construction of a complete bathroom for Private G.A.P.P. Weerasuriya, a disable soldier.

Senior SVAB members, including Vice President Mrs. Anusha Samarasinghe, Mrs. Pushpa Liyanage, daughter and brother-in-law of Mrs. Menaka Kurunanayaka, and Director Media and Military Spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara were also present on the occasion.

Mrs. Jayasuriya as the President SVAB appreciated the donation and thanked SLUNA and its members on behalf of the Army Commander and members of the SVAB.

This is the first donation received by Mrs Jayasuriya after her assumption of duties as President of SVAB.
