The visiting delegation of the Office of UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) during their interaction in Jaffna, called on the Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) with a view to receiving an update on current affairs and security in the peninsula.

Major General Hathurusinghe taking instances pointed out to the delegation how different groups and parties with different agendas were operating in order to damage good relations between Security Forces and civilians. He underlined that the Security Forces under no circumstances, would require any more private lands for establishment of Army camps in the peninsula and scoffed at distorted reports in some sections of the media.
Major General Hathurusinghe, during his interaction with the OHCHR team recalled how both Sinhala and Tamil communities lived in harmony for generations and how interested parties destroyed those bonds of goodwill.
