Soldiers of 11th Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (11 VIR), based at Chavakachcheri recently organized a blood donation campaign at St. Lagoria church in Chavakachcheri, in order to donate blood to the blood bank at Jaffna Teaching Hospital.

Commanding Officer 11 VIR Lieutenant Colonel U.R.W.K.R. Kemarathne assisted other officers and all ranks to get the programme organized. 

In some instances, it was informed that scarcity of blood in the Jaffna hospital has delayed surgeries and other requirements. More than 75 soldiers including officers gave blood during the campaign, in addition to about 50 civilians who also joined voluntarily after seeing the programme in action.
