You have shown the world, how a democratic government, with the support of its people, led by a courageous government, served by courageous soldiers, sailors, airmen, police and home guard can defeat an separatist enemy supported by foreign powers, and a vast global terrorist network. In the coming years, the entire world will marvel at your accomplishments, and hold your accomplishment as a model for how democratic nations can and should defeat internationally supported separatist terrorist movements.
Congratulations on your Victory; a victory that is comparable in its completeness to that of the Allies in World War-II! May 19th, 2009 was the happiest day of my life; the culmination of a dream that I have nursed, and espoused, for three decades of my life.
I will be there beside you, as long as I live, to defend and protect Sri Lanka, to help it prosper economically in the years ahead, and to take care of the SLDF veterans who sacrificed life and limb in this just war of national liberation and reunification.
I can now die in peace, knowing that MY RESPLENDENT ISLAND is safe! Thank you all! Words fail to express my gratitude to you.

My salute goes to the entire Sri Lankan Army (including Navy+Air Force), for their bravery and heroic combat and accomplishing a mission against a ruthless terrorist organization. No doubt, during this combat a number of soldiers had to sacrifice their lives for their motherland. Believe that all Sri Lankan will always recall the contributions of these fallen heroes.
I would also like to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to the Government of Sri Lanka, particularly the President, Defence Secretary and General S. Fonseka for their strong commitments to the nation. The leaders of third world countries can learn a lesson from the Government of Sri Lanka that a "Government is to bow only to its people" not to outside power whatever powerful that is.

We thank you all, and fondly remember the heroes who laid down their lives for the welfare of our Motherland, may they all attain Nibbana. Most importantly the future welfare of the families of those heroes that did not return home, and those of injured, as well as those injured, would have to be secured, and we as a nation will look after them, as it is our duty towards them. It is so heartwarming to see our soldiers stand in this place that most of us feared and thought will be one day ruled by tigers...If not for those who are standing here, proudly, we would have to undergo a very painful experience in our lives ; a divided Sri Lanka.
We are all so grateful to you OUR DEAR SOLDIERS for the sacrifices you made, losing lives and limbs to bring this country together!

Firstly, I would like to congratulate each and every person
who laid their lives to free our Motherland Sri Lanka from
a group of terrorists who had many backing financially,
politically and militarliy.
Sri Lanka should sue these countries for supporting terrorists and seek damages to rebuilt what LTTE demolished
and also to pay the families who lost their loved ones while protecting their Motherland.
