Security Forces Headquarters, Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) with the noble intention of promoting goodwill and reconciliation between members of the Security Forces and sportsmen, organized a Volleyball tournament in the Kilinochchi Volleyball Court.
The final day of the tournament took place on Sunday (24) amidst a large gathering of guests and spectators where Volleyball teams of Ramanadapuram Maha Vidyalaya and Mallavi Central College vied for supremacy.
However, Volleyball team of the Ramanadapuram Maha Vidyalaya emerged victories in the male sector while female Volleyball players of the Paranthan Hindu Maha Vidyalaya carried away the championship after beating its rival team of Ramanadapuram Maha Vidyalaya.
Pudiyabarathi Sports Club and Palainagar Sports Club contested in the finals representing outside sports categories. However, Pudiyabarathi Sports Club finally carried away the championship. In the same manner, women players of the Pudiyabarathi Sports Club after beating the women’s wing of Vetti Sports Club during the tournament emerged victorious.
Of the Army Volleyball teams, 57 Division and 65 Division Volleyball teams were qualified to challenge their rivals. However, 57 Division players won the day.
All winners were awarded cash prizes during the final stage of the tournament. A stock of track kits was also donated at the same occasion.
A few ministers and parliamentarians visiting the area attended the awarding ceremony, together with Major General Crishantha De Silva, Commander, SFHQ-KLN.
