Ex-servicemen of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) and their members of the families went on a three-day tour to the Northern Jaffna and Mullaittivu areas, following a proposal made by Major General R.V. Samaratunge, Colonel of the Regiment, VIR Boyagane Headquarters.
Major General (Retd) J. Nammuni headed the trip, joined by over 100 members of VIR families. The trip commenced after visiting sacred places in Anuradhapura and the North Central Province.
All VIR formations across the Northern Province provided board and lodging to the participants and the trip’s transport facilities were also coordinated by the VIR Headquarters.
Participants visited former LTTE - held areas and their fortifications and other areas of interest in Jaffna and Mullaitivu areas during the trip.
