STATEMENT BY THE GOVERNMENT ON THE SECURITY SITUATION

Here is a statement issued by the Government on Monday (27):

     Government of Sri Lanka has decided that combat operations have reached their conclusion. Our Security Forces have been instructed to end the use of heavy caliber guns, combat aircraft and aerial weapons which could cause civilian casualties.
  
     Our Security Forces will confirm their attempts to rescuing civilians who are held hostage and give foremost priority to saving civilians.

But is there have so many civilian?but the army should able to use the heavy wepon when times come.when 500 LTTE cader trayng to over run then the Army should able to use heavy wepon and Air power as a own protection.othrewise army will get damege.
